Why are these roadworks taking so long to finish off?

A city jam-packed with tourists – on a Bank Holiday weekend – is not exactly presenting the best of itself.

Can we be told what the problem is?

  1. And the quality of the public realm design here and elsewhere in these civic works is so poor

  2. We said the same thing when we went by yesterday.
Also really don’t understand what happens to the cyclists that ride contrary to the flow of traffic (based on the bicycle painted on the lane) at the end of the cycle lane?
Looks like they emerge into oncoming traffic?

    1. It would appear there will be a traffic light to control that movement… just deducing that from where the orange pipes pop up like cartoon snakes!

  3. Why do they keep endlessly repaving around the Guildhall when places like Westgate Street, Bond Street, Pultney Steet, North Parade/Bog Island and Union Street all desperately need improvements? The curb stones in Westgate Street are not even stone – they are actually just bits of shaped tarmac and look appalling.

  4. I was last in Bath late March; it looks no better here than it did then! I’ll be in town again in a couple of weeks’ time and I’m not expecting to see much change! Are there ‘underlying’ factors we don’t know about that are causing the delay?

  5. Having lived in bath all my life,I cannot comprehend the mess it’s in now, with insufficient toilet facilities, but loads of tourists?chaotic road systems which just seems to create more polluted areas, unkempt pathways, poor parks compared with outside bath, warminster park is outstanding, clean, lovely lake, splash water park, where we now have Cleveland baths now closed despite a ridiculous amount of money spent on an I’ll conceived project, will someone please open their eyes and get a grip!!!!

  6. Yes, the pain does seem to be dragging on longer than is ideal… really keen to use this new lane as will be such an improvement.
