Widcombe Deli to close

Now l live the other side of town from the Widcombe Deli, but it has been a meeting point with friends over the years and l am sad to hear today that – as things stand – they will be closing up shop in mid November.

Seems the landlords are not prepared to give the business a new lease and, despite many approaches, have not responded to any of those asking them to reconsider their decision – including a local councillor.

Here’s the letter the owners – Jon and Nicky Ison – have been handing out to customers:

I would be happy to hear from the landlords if they want to get in touch.

  1. Surely the tenant has the right to a new lease under Landlord and Tenant Act 1954. The landlord would have to have served a notice opposing renewal which would only succeed under limited grounds.
