Manda to be Bath’s new mayor.

Bath’s new mayor is to be Cllr Manda Rigby with the existing city mayor, Cllr Gerry Curran, as her deputy. It’s believed to be the first time – since 1975 – that such a change of ‘hats’ was made. They are swopping roles too – as she is currently Deputy Mayor!

Mayor Making this year will be held in St Michaels Without as Bath Abbey still has work underway on stabilising the church floor. Manda will be the 793rd ‘first citizen’ of the city.

The announcement from the Mayor’s Office today read as follows:

Announcement of Next Mayor & Deputy Mayor – Municipal Year 2020/21

It is my duty to inform you that Councillor Manda Rigby has been selected for election to serve the Office of Chairman of the Charter Trustees of the City of Bath and Mayor of the City during the next Municipal Year, and has accepted this invitation.
