Well it did not take the Virtual Museum of Bath very long to solve the mystery of the new little stone heads that have begun appearing on the retaining wall to the Paragon – on one side of Walcot Street.
I sense – especially after the cooperative buy out that saved the Bell – that the old independent heart of this unique street, full of specialist businesses, is starting to beat again.
The new little stone-heads are appearing next to four originals that have been gathering grime and have been barely noticed for a couple of decades.
However, all is about to change. Local independent businessman Martin Tracey – owner of The Framing Workshop at number 80 – is leading a new drive to promote the street in a very original way. He is well aware of the original stone-heads and how they got there!
