Just a little warning to cyclists, dog owners and joggers. There is a swan family frequently seen now using the towpath of the Kennet and Avon Canal towards Sydney Gardens.
I got off my bike and walked past them yesterday, but saw a jogger run through and a cyclist pedal. It doesn’t take you long to pass with care.
The two dog owners I saw had their pets on leads, and one owner said he’d pick his dog up in passing.
Good to see folk caring about other living creatures apart from themselves.
We saw this group of swans yesterday too, they narrowly avoided a canal boat near the Cleveland House tunnel entrance and we counted no few than 8 cygnets…quite a big brood!
Well this swan has done magnificently. Sad to hear yet another example of people not caring for other inhabitants of the planet. How do we tackle this problem?
This is the Sydney Wharf family and have eight cygnets. Yes been watching the family since 1958 when the canal was derelict. Since renovation the biggest danger to them has been dogs off lead and speeding cyclists.
