Art-full stay at the Francis

James Dillon is well known in Bath art circles. He’s a local curator who is no stranger to art and antique fairs, but it took a chance encounter over dinner at a city hotel to set him on his latest venture.

Emberwood is the plush new restaurant at the recently refurbished Francis Hotel on Queen Square.

It’s where James reached an agreement to collaborate on a scheme to display his artwork collection around the building.

Last night, they collaborated again to bring in friends and influencers to see how this idea has worked.

Artwork is scattered around the lounges, the restaurant and even downstairs in the new luxury spa.

A subtle little QR beneath each painting allows you to see more information and how to buy it!

Excuse the noise – as it was a busy affair – but I had a word with James about his venture.

  1. Surely the Abbey Hotel was a leader in collaboration with artists?
Many cafes and restaurants have also displayed artwork in collabs with artists selling their work for years in Bath…I really don’t think there is anything new about this kind of venture!
