Let’s celebrate

I popped into Bath Central Library this morning to view an exhibition recommended to me by Samantha Walker.

She wrote: ‘I’m the curator of an exhibition currently on at Bath Central Library until February 28 – it’s entitled INVITATION and celebrates the lives, legacy and impact of Bath’s ‘likkle but tallawah’ (small but mighty in Jamaican patois) of Bath’s first-generation Caribbean community.

There are 46 photos on display, 38 of which are beautifully vintage – think wedding photos from the 50s and 60s, nursing photos, and so much more.

The exhibition also features 8 more contemporary photos by Bath photographer Dennis Whylie, who has been photographing the Caribbean community since the 1980s – Dennis and I hope to have a future exhibition of his work.’

Well done, Samantha.

My quick look around cannot do the exhibition justice, so I really recommend folks pay it a personal visit – even if you’re not changing your library book!

Here’s a quick look around I’ve set to music.
