Bath-based children’s music and wellbeing charity Voices for Life is bringing the joy of singing to primary schools across the country this February, with the launch of its nationwide pre-recorded assembly.
The assembly, which is free and open to all UK primary schools, celebrates child mental health charity Place2Be’s ‘Children’s Mental Health Week’ (9th- 15th February).
Tying in with this year’s theme, ‘This is my place’, it focuses on the power of singing to bring people together and help them find their place in the community.
“This assembly shares a core message we believe deeply: Every child deserves to feel they belong,” Explains charity founder and Executive Director Tessa Armstrong. “Through singing, we can find our place — in our voices, in our schools and in our communities.”
The free resource will include a fun warm-up, an exploration of what it means to belong, and a teaching and sing-along for the uplifting song ‘Under the Same Sky’, by Kate Courage.
Children’s Mental Health Week also marks five years since Voices for Life first launched, bringing hope to children through singing during the pandemic.
In five years, it has reached over 15,000 children across the South West, running children’s choirs, in-school singing/ wellbeing workshops and performances in impressive venues such as Bath Abbey.
Particular highlights include children recording their own album, singing for BBC Newsround, and even performing in front of the Queen!
Now, the assembly will inspire even more children to be happy and confident through music, bringing the benefits of singing to children all around the country.
