The lion l bought in a market in Addis Ababa – during my 1985 RAF Lyneham-sponsored trip to famine-struck Ethiopia – has a new companion.

(Actually, looking at its smooth hand-carved lines, l think this could be a lioness.)

Darren found another African big cat online, and it arrived as a Christmas present under the tree.

I think they make a fine pair.

I love cats big and small. It might have something to do with my zodiac sign. I’m a Leo.

PS Can’t thank my husband enough for nursing me through yesterday. Not coughing quite so much this morning, and feeling brighter in myself.
