[Author and illustrator, Claire Bramwell-Pearson and Alexandra Dikaia]
Here’s a great idea for an extra and very original Christmas present!
Pop along to BRLSI in Queen Square this Saturday between 2 pm and 4 pm for the book launch of Vitalii Petrenko and the Secret of the Roman Baths.
Here’s the Press Release from the Institution:
“Join us to celebrate the publication of Vitalii Petrenko and the Secret of the Roman Baths — a magical, must-read adventure by Bath Spa University graduate Claire Bramwell-Pearson with stunning illustrations by Ukrainian author and illustrator Alexandra Dikaia.

The event will include a discussion with the author and illustrator about the origins of the book and the challenges of publishing books in English for Ukrainian audiences; a reception serving Ukrainian cakes; and a special hands-on illustration workshop, led by Alexandra, where everyone will have the opportunity to draw a complex character — the dragon, Zmiy Horynych — in a very simple and accessible way.
The event will be hosted by Zhenya Shkill, founder of Friends of Oleksandriya, the local charity which commissioned the book. You will also be able to buy discounted copies of the book at the event.
No need to buy a ticket — just come along at 2 pm!
This event is part of Ukrainian Culture Week, being organised by Bath Spa University — along with many other UK universities — as part of their ongoing support for Ukraine and its universities.
