Making a start

Good to see the scaffolding going up around part of Plymouth House – an empty office block in Monmouth Street which will be refurbished to become the new Bath police station.

It should be ready for occupation in the summer of 2026 and will replace the current police stations at the One Stop Shop and at Redbridge House on Lower Bristol Road.

The move to Monmouth Street means Avon and Somerset Police will once again operate from one dedicated police station in Bath, co-locating all policing teams alongside an Enquiry Office open to the public.

Meanwhile, l see the latest road bollard security scheme in the city centre looks almost ready to start operation.

It’s at the Stall Street end of Beau Street – leading down to the Thermae Bath Spa and the Gainsborough Hotel.

  1. Shame that the Police Station is moving away from the City Centre, in my 83 years has always been there. Orange Grove then the great station in Manvers Street in Bath’s problem area.
