Wyatt’s Whispers

Some encouraging news for ducks and those who like to feed them.

I am hearing that a recent meeting between Wessex Water and B&NES, regarding the future of the now empty ponds in Royal Victoria Park, was a positive one.

I am expecting a joint announcement by both bodies by the end of the week. which will indicate a commitment to work together to get the water supply problem solved.

Fingers crossed!

Passing through Royal Crescent this morning, l must say what a great job the painters from Bristol are doing in repainting the ornate lampposts that overlook the Crescent Lawn.

The base black paint has been applied, and the special gilding of the flowers and city coat of arms on the posts will now be tackled after the coming Jane Austen Festival Promenade weekend, which sets off from the lawns in front of the Royal Crescent on Saturday at 11 am.

On the way back into town, l have to say the Assembly Rooms is now rapidly disappearing from sight as scaffolding starts to go up – enveloping the building.

All part of the exciting renovations and restorations being carried out by the National Trust. The building will reopen with a “new experience” in 2027.
