Does flying a fake ‘bird of prey’ work in deterring gull activity?

Should we see more of these devices in our city skies?

A sort of ‘barrage bird balloon ‘ set up?

  1. Real red kites, whose range has been spreading since they were reintroduced to the Vale of Aylesbury in the 1990s, have been seen over Bath recently and are well established in the Marshfield area so we may soon have a natural deterrent.

  2. YES, A huge flock of them! Bath should be ashamed of the shocking mess on pavements and buildings caused by these flying rats. OK, protect seagulls on the coast but get rid of them inland to protect towns and cities. Supporter of RSPB!!!

  3. It’s a great idea and most importantly, a humane one. Gulls are only here because we leave food around so we only have ourselves to blame for their presence.
I’d be happier to see real live raptors do the job but it’s a reasonable temporary measure.
