A world premiere performance is coming up in Bath. That’s what is promised later next month when the local choir Lucis bring a very special production to Prior Park.
Let’s hear from Michele Gross, who is a member of the choir:
“Ten years ago, Bath was lucky enough to gain a wonderful new choir, formed by uniting two previous choirs, Corsham Coral and Organum and naming it Lucis, Latin for light.
We are honoured to have composer Will Todd as our Patron, and we are led by the charismatic Francis Faux and his versatile accompanist Will Ashworth, who also teaches piano and has a fine singing voice.
We currently comprise about 90 people of all ages. We aim to promote and support new music alongside some more conventional classics and sometimes premiere works newly composed by our own musical director.
Lucis has established a real niche and identity for itself amongst the many choirs in Bath. We perform all around the UK, besides touring abroad.
In January 2015, we were invited to perform The Armed Man, Mass for Peace by Sir Karl Jenkins at the prestigious Carnegie Hall in New York.
Last December, we gave a joint anniversary Gala concert in Bath Abbey in conjunction with Bath Royal Literary and Scientific Institution.
The forthcoming gala concert at Prior Park Chapel will feature the world gala performance by special commission of The Four Seasons as an OPERA.”
