Walking past Pulteney Bridge Weir this lunchtime, l was fascinated to see two swans managing to stay put on the concrete tiers – despite the force of the cascading waters of our River Avon.
When they finally decided to go with the flow, it was with such grace.
Talking of rivers and water – Varian Tye has drawn me to another event being organised as part of the Wild Water Festival – a celebration of nature and community which is being held in our area from May 31st to June 15th.
He tells me: “One of the events in the coming festival which your readers may be particularly interested in, and I suggest would merit highlighting in a separate entry on Bath Newseum, is WESSEX WATER. AVON UNCOVERED, as the River Avon flows through the heart of the City of Bath’s World Heritage Site.
As well as the need to protect and enhance the special historic and architectural built environment of Bath, this exclusive Wild Water Festival event offers a unique opportunity to hear directly from senior leaders of Wessex Water about the part they play in protecting and enhancing the health of the River Avon.
No doubt there will also be the opportunity to ask questions about water treatment and the River Avon as well!
