Batheaston Art Trail

More than 40 artists will be putting their work on display as part of the Batheaston Art Trail over the last weekend in September this year.

Now in its fourth year, the Batheaston Art Trail has become a regular event in the West Country arts calendar, offering art and craft lovers great days out in a beautiful English valley community.

Painters, ceramicists, illustrators, graphic designers, textile artists, sculptors, and printers will be part of the 2024 art trail, displaying work in their own studios as well as shared venues.

The Batheaston Art Trail 2024 will take place over two days, Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th September, with venues open from 11.30 am – 5.30 pm each day.

Apart from individual studios, venues on the trail will be the Batheaston New Village Hall and St John the Baptist Church, with the latter also offering refreshments. Lunches and refreshments are also available at local cafés on the High Street.

With the River Avon, Secret Garden and National Trust river path to the south and the idyllic St Catherine’s Valley to the north, the easily-accessible village of Batheaston is the perfect place for a day out.

“Apart from being a great opportunity for a walk by yourself, or with others, our art trail is just so interesting,” says Rachel Fixsen, ceramicist and one of the Batheaston Art Trail organisers.

“There’s a really wide range of creative work to see – the colours alone are amazing! It’s also inspiring for anyone who wants to find out about artists’ making processes, and maybe think about whether they might like to develop their own talents more,” she says.

The art trail also celebrates Batheaston’s connection with the suffragette movement, with bunting marking the venues in the signature suffragette colours of green, purple and white. There will be a display of suffragette memorabilia in St John’s Church on the trail weekend.

The event is supported by the community group Grow Batheaston, and details of the trail as well as all the artists involved, along with a downloadable map, can be found at https://www.growbatheaston.co.uk/art-trail-a-da.
