Wow. Now this is something! The National Trust held a viewing session yesterday to show the public its plans for reinventing and reimagining the Bath Assembly Rooms.

What they have in store for the ballroom seems incredible enough.

NT have just submitted a planning application to B&NES for approval to start work but want people to comment on their plans for the future too! Exciting times lie ahead.


Sounds ghastly. Surely a living , useable building adds more to city life that this puffed up ‘experience’.
Looking at the first-floor gallery in the Ballroom, if they are recreating its Georgian appearance, the ugly wooden fencing recently placed behind the ironwork barrier (presumably there for health and safety reasons) will have to go? The iron work itself doesn’t look like Georgian design, but I’m not an expert.
Does this mean an end to concerts in the Ballroom in the Bath Festival and the Mozartfest? That is when most Bathonians go in there.
