Bath Rugby have finally put in their planning application for a transformed stadium – giving them an increased capacity of 18,000 and a hybrid pitch to enable more community use.
The riverside will be remodelled to create a Springs Garden Walk with cafe, shop and museum.

It is a lengthy and considered application which will no doubt attract a lot of attention. Bath Rugby’s development proposals will have supporters and opponents. It is the first steps on a long planning road.
I haven’t read the whole thing yet. I am a bit under the weather with a cold, but have taken out some visuals that show the effects of the new roof level.

Bath’s communities now have the opportunity to halt this blatantly commercial steamroller flattening both “.. heritage and environment..” in the centre of our World Heritage city(slight exaggeration, but I hope you see my point).
A seating increase of less than 4000 is not sufficient reason for despoiling the Recreation Ground and making the lives of those living around it less peaceful and enjoyable.
B&NES avowed intent of “Making peoples’ lives better” will suffer a serious setback if they allow their Planning Committee to approve this application. It is time for them to step up to the plate and bat for their Residents.
