Lidl protest stops London Road traffic

This is the long anticipated annual Larkhall Festival weekend with lots of fun to be had over the next couple of days.

However, not everyone in that area has just the MayBank Holiday on their minds.

I joined a group of people setting out to protest at plans to put a Lidl supermarket on a greenfield site on the London Road approach to the city – and here’s what happened.

Apart from a petition, the protestors have organised a Crowdfunding Page to help raise the £6,000 they say they need to raise to hire legal and expert advice to help keep this site as a haven for beavers birds, bats, pollinating insects and prevent more traffic.

They ask people to donate whatever they can – large or small – to their Just Giving Crowdfunding page.
