With so many consultations going on about our streets and how we move around in them – maybe it’s time to ask young people what they want – says Saskia Heijltjes, who bears the honorary title of the ‘Bicycle Mayor of Bath’.

She writes: ” I am on the lookout for the first Youth Bicycle Mayor of Bath! As Youth Bicycle Mayor, you would be raising the profile of cycling in Bath and championing all young people, a generation who are more socially and environmentally conscious than ever.

Are you between 14 and 18 years old and do you want safer roads for all of us to cycle to school, for fun and to work?

Together with me, you would come up with a plan as to what you would be doing as Youth Bicycle Mayor of Bath and how to get more young people cycling in Bath. You would build leadership skills, make new contacts, and become part of an international network of young leaders.

We’d especially like to hear from girls/women and other underrepresented groups in cycling.

The role would be for one year and would start soon after your appointment.

Please fill in this short form to apply to become Youth Bicycle Mayor of Bath. Deadline is 25 October 2022: https://bit.ly/youthbicyclemayorbath
