Have we stopped supporting Ukraine? Seems not! Though the blue and yellow flag is missing from its pole on the roof of our Guildhall, l think it will be back.
I checked with ‘someone in the know’ and got this reply.
“I suspect there is no-less support for the people of Ukraine, but the ‘rules’ for flying the flag during a period of national mourning prescribe which flags may be flown.
While ‘national flags’ (for those of the home countries of England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland) may be flown, the expectation is that the Union Flag should take precedence for hoisting and certainly if more than one flagstaff on the principle flagstaff.
Non-national flags (as defined) may not be flown. Hence, I suspect, the absence of the yellow and blue.”
