Oh what a night!

What a queue there was last night waiting for the doors to open at St Swithins Church for one of the first musical events laid on across the city on the opening night of this year’s Bath Festival.

The queue outside St Swithin’s Church

Mums and dads and other family members coming to witness their sons and daughters sing original songs they had written as part of the Our Schools Voices project.

This brought together over one hundred young people from 11 Bath secondary schools to create their own choral pieces with Bath Philharmonia.

The choir shared their talent and creativity through four uplifting songs exploring the theme of journeys.

An emotional musical start to the evening and how wonderful they all were.

Here’s just a smartphone hand-held video excerpt of what we all enjoyed.

The youngsters get another outing on May 19th as part of a Concert for the People of Bath at The Forum.

In the company of my friends l had a wonderful evening in which we managed to soak up some of the atmosphere – including music in Queen Square and Parade Gardens.
