A crackerjack of a show!

I couldn’t attend the preview party for this year’s Bath Society of Artists open exhibition at the Victoria Art Gallery because it clashed with events marking the opening night of the Bath Festival. (More on that elsewhere)

So l went along a little earlier in the afternoon to chat to gallery manager Jon Benington about what he described as a ‘crackerjack of a show’ and the last he’ll witness in his managerial role as he is retiring in the autumn.

For the benefit of those who know nothing about society and its long history, l asked him to explain the background to this annual event.

The exhibition was officially opened by Shani Rhys James MBE who was the invited artist for this year’s show.

Several of her works are being showcased as part of the event.
