Double header returns

Here’s a date for your diary Bath Rugby fans. The club’s announced that the double-header with Bath Rugby Ladies is returning to the Rec in March!

Following the Blue, Black and Whites’ Gallagher Premiership match against Sale Sharks on Saturday 26 March (15:00 kick-off), Bath Rugby Ladies will take on Buckingham Swans Ladies in the Women’s Championship South 1 at 17:30.

It will be the second time this season John Gould’s side have played after the men’s team at the Rec, having won 44-13 against Supermarine Ladies in front of a 3,000-strong crowd back in October.

That day marked the beginning of an important partnership between the clubs, which both have strong ambitions to grow the women’s game in the region and compete at the highest level of the domestic game.

Bath Rugby Ladies are currently second in the table with 10 wins from 11 outings securing a 50-17 away win over Reading Abbey Ladies last time out.

Bath Rugby’s Schools Coordinator, Hannah Meek, ran in FIVE tries and says playing in the last double-header was one of her favourite moments as a rugby player.

“It was such a momentous occasion for women’s rugby, and it was amazing to be involved with such a fantastic team. We absolutely loved running out on the Rec and to have 3,000 people watch us represent the city was up there with the best feelings I’ve had on a field.

“The partnership between Bath Rugby and Bath Rugby Ladies is continuing to go from strength to strength and as a group of ambitious women, we can’t wait for what the future holds.”

Access to the women’s game is free following the men’s fixture with the link to sign up for free tickets to be posted on Monday 7 February.

Furthermore, Bath Rugby Ladies v Buckingham Swans Ladies will be live streamed to increase visibility of female rugby in the region and to support the ever-growing rise of the women’s game.
