I was out on the last day of the old year doing my Mayor’s Guides duties and making a few observations on the city.
I hear yet another coffee house is going into the old Patisserie Valerie unit at the entrance to Northumberland Place.
While l was there l couldn’t help but notice a lovely old ironwork scroll hanging to one side of the lane.
Be great if the traders could get together and put up a new sign within the frame – perhaps saying Northumberland Place or even Welcome to the Lanes?
Bit of self-promotion would be good to encourage traffic.
Sorry to see see further evidence of broken paving stones being replaced with tarmac – and this alongside Abbey Church Yard too.
Yes, I’ve noticed them all over the city. Shame. This city is looking so dowdy these days.
