Although the ruling Lib-Dem group controlling B&NES have ruled out banning all cars from entering its proposed Clean Air Zone for Bath City Centre – some might argue that its plans to explore limiting vehicular access to some of its central urban spaces is a ban through the back door.
I have been talking to Cllr Joanna Wright – who is the authority’s Cabinet member for Transport – about the experimental week-end closure of Milsom Street, plans for Kingsmead Square and the council’s overall ambition to get us – in her words – to ‘think more creatively about our movements.’
So – with many traders unsure about the effects on trading of stopping the car – how had the ‘Love Milsom Street’ week-end gone?
