Bath’s Victoria Art Gallery in Bath is seeking public support for a crowdfunding campaign for its next blockbuster exhibition.
Starting on 23 July via Art Happens – UK charity Art Fund’s crowdfunding platform – the Gallery will seek to raise £11,381 before 22 August, giving only 30 days to reach the target.
With the public’s help, next February the Victoria Art Gallery will bring the sounds, sights and delights of artist Toulouse-Lautrec’s thrilling Bohemian Paris to modern-day Bath.
It will revisit the ‘street art’ of the era with 83 iconic colour posters by Toulouse-Lautrec and other artists such as Alphonse Mucha and Pierre Bonnard.
With this financial support, the Gallery will show how visual art, music and dance were intertwined in this thrilling era, helping to transport visitors back to late 19th-century Paris through dynamic interpretation and an exciting programme of activities for everyone.
Donations can be any amount. In exchange for their help, donors will be able to choose from a range of unique rewards, including special experiences and limited-edition postcards, prints and tote bags produced exclusively for the campaign.
Councillor Paul Crossley, cabinet member for Community Services at Bath & North East Somerset Council, said: “Through Art Happens we are giving the community a stake in our most exciting exhibition ever, focusing on Toulouse-Lautrec and the dance halls of Montmartre. With the public’s support we can make this a once-in-a-lifetime experience.”
