It’s taken a few years and a lot of effort to get to this stage but finally – the transformation of the old bandstand in Bath’s Parade Gardens is getting underway.
Last year the riverside park hosted the first ever Festival of Ironwork and – besides all the events for the thousands who flocked there – eight master blacksmiths got down to the job of creating a masterpiece and a unique gift for Bath.
They have created new ironwork – on a musical theme – to surround this much-loved central feature and today the work could finally get going on site.
A proud moment for Andy Thearle – the mastermind behind the project and himself at the head of a talented team of blacksmiths at IronArt in Larkhall.
As Andy said there will be a unique musical event – to be held in Parade Gardens – to officially launch the new band stand as part of this year’s Bath Festival.
