I am going to call local artist, Nick Cudworth, the ‘Prince of Darkness” but l don’t want him to take it the wrong way. I just reckon – when it comes to painting after dark – he’s artistic royalty.
One of two new exhibitions – just opened – at the Victoria Art Gallery is Nick Cudworth: Bath Night Paintings 2003-18 in which this Walcot Street based artist exhibits one of his painting talents and captures the city as sun light is replaced by street lamps.
For this exhibition he presents over 20 of his stunning Bath night paintings in the form of giclée prints on stretched canvas.
The artist’s brilliant eye for the effect of light on colour ensures visitors will want to explore the city’s beautiful buildings after dark. All works are for sale.
Bath Newseum was there – at the private preview – to have a chat.
The exhibition is at the Victoria Art Gallery through to February 17th, 2019 and entry is FREE.
