Lighting up Moorland Road.

The Oldfield community will come together next month to celebrate the switch-on of the crowdfunded Moorland Road Christmas Lights on Saturday 24th November.

The road will be closed to traffic from 10:00, with entertainment starting from 13:00. This year, Santa will arrive at 13:00, an hour earlier than usual because he was in so much demand last year! Santa will have gifts for children under 8 (donations welcome).

The big switch on will be at 16:30, and the road will reopen to through traffic by 18:00

Cllr Will Sandry said: “The Moorland Road Christmas lights are not sponsored by the Council. They are provided by the local community for the community.

We are really fortunate to have Jordan Liddle who takes unpaid time out from running his business to organise the Christmas Lights.”

Jordan Liddle, Technical Director of BW-Tech Fire & Security said: “It’s a real privilege to once again be delivering this much-loved event in Oldfield Park.

The preparations for the lights start in June and ramp up as the big day approaches. I’m extremely grateful to the members of the public and those businesses who also help with the sponsorship or volunteer their time to make the event a success”
