Santa to pull the Christmas switch at SouthGate

Followers of Bath Newseum will already know that the Holburne Museum has decided not to hold its annual lantern procession this year.

Part of last year’s lantern procession.

But, it seems, all is not lost as there will be a parade of lights in the city this December –  but this time in a different location.

Seems a lantern parade will be the way festivities open in SouthGate when Father Christmas is invited along to switch on Bath’s Christmas Lights.

Families are invited to go along to SouthGate Street North – on November 16th – for an evening of festivities with free local entertainment from The Pauline Quirke Academy, Children’s Hospice South West, Bath Light Operatic Group and the Theatre Royal Bath.

Festive entertainment begins with a Lantern Parade from The Pauline Quirke Academy and St Martins Primary.

The great man himself, Santa, will be making an appearance and switch on the lights at 6pm.

SouthGate’s bright red Routemaster bus which will also be serving drinks and interactive entertainment from 16th November to 6th January 2017.

You are invited to enjoy an evening of merriment and festive surprises from 4pm.

The Bath Lights Switch On has been arranged by SouthGate Bath, Bath Business Improvement District and Bath & North East Somerset Council.
