A wee dram

Got to hand it to Bath. The city is jam-packed with independent traders – and here’s another example opening up on the High Street and opposite the Guildhall.

It’s selling nothing but whisky.

All kinds and from places as far apart as Scotland and Japan.

No jokes about councillors and local government workers not having far to go to indulge in a ‘wee dram’ either!

The Rebecca Fountain.

It’s amusing to think a Victorian temperance society erected the ‘Rebecca at the well’ fountain outside Bath Abbey to face up the High Street and ‘face off’ all the public houses which sold the ‘devil’s brew’.

Looks like Rebecca is going to have to roll up her sleeves (they are pretty short anyway) and reinforce her determination to say ‘Water is Best’.

Well, l know a lot of whisky drinkers like a dash in their glasses!
