My work, my home.

The exhibition poster says ‘John Croft at Home ‘, but I’d better point out that the artist in question – a resident of Bath – died just recently at the amazing age of 103.

John was not a professional canvas painter; in fact, his career took him everywhere from wartime code-breaking to criminology, but he painted right up to his 100th birthday and, during his lifetime, exhibited an amazing artistic talent.

Now, his cousin Giles, who, with other family members, will have to find homes for the contents of John’s Mews house before it is sold, decided that it would be a wonderful idea to let people come and see his work and really feel his presence in the place he loved so much.

All his possessions and effects have been left as they were at the time of his death.

I have been up to the Circus Mews to see for myself and talk to Giles.

NB. The address is 15 Circus Mews, Bath. BA1 2PW The house is open between 12 pm and 5pm until November 8th. You can contact Giles Croft via gilescroft123@hotmail.com
