If you’re a regular user of city roads, you can’t have failed to notice that there’s a fair bit of disruption at present with roadworks dotted around central Bath.
One of the main obstructions is currently Manvers Street, where last-century concrete slabs over the many vaults and cellars beneath the road’s surface are being replaced.
The danger, with modern and much heavier traffic, is that one of those underground structures could collapse and cause both injury and considerable damage.
