It’s Jane Austen Festival time again, and a week of Regency rejoicing got its big launch today with a promenade of period-dressed participants through the streets of Bath.
I did most of my filming in The Circus but did a mad dash down to the High Street later to get some more action ‘on the move ‘, so to speak.
It’s reckoned a record 2,400 promenaders strolled through the city – looking their Empire-line best – with lots of gallant gentlemen on their arms of course.
Sorry if l didn’t capture everyone with my hand-held DJI Pocket 3, but l did my best!
Jane lies in Winchester – blessed be her shade.
Praise the Lord for making her, and her for all she made.
And while the stones of Winchester, or Milsom Street remain,
Glory love and honour be unto England’s Jane!
Rudyard Kipling
(‘The Janeites’)
Very colourful & cheerie! Not quite sure how much Jane would have approved of all the mobile phones in hands, trainers on feet, and surely Costa coffee cups in hand whilst out strolling, instead of taking tea World have been shunned by Mr. Darcy ! Totally bonkers!! Heard the Holburne’s hosting the dashing soldiers for the night. Ladies, a meander around Sydney Pleasure Gardens seems a necessity !
