That sinking feeling

The Kennet and Avon Canal is a former industrial waterway that, these days, offers recreational pleasure in many different ways.

That’s whether you are holidaying on board a narrow boat or simply walking or cycling along the former towpath.

(I am thinking more of seasonal visitors, not the canal’s residents who have winter to contend with too!)

Josiah Mortimer tells me he was actually kayaking when he came upon this half-sunken craft.

He writes:

‘Hi Richard, wondered if you’d seen this boat on the canal, by the wooden bridge (the first bridge on the path walking SW from Beckford road)

It’s full of rubbish – could do with sorting!’

Thanks for the images, Josiah. I have passed them on to the Canal and River Trust for comment.
