Yesterday was a very special day.
My husband Darren and I were honoured to be invited to join in a birthday celebration for the man l knew for so many years as ‘Uncle Bruce.’
Yes, Bruce Hockin, the main anchor of HTV West’s news programmes, who went on to become one of the longest-serving presenters of any ITV news programme, was celebrating his 90th birthday with family and friends.
Back in the day, when regional news really was local and all of my colleagues – in every department working there on the Bath Road in Bristol – really were part of a television family.
