Music amongst friends

Every year, a local choir represents our city of Bath at the international twinning music festival in Aix-en-Provence, Bath’s twin city in France.

Last year it was a Handful of Singers, and last weekend it was the turn of the Walcot State Choir conducted by Su Hart.

Marian McNeir MBE, the Chairman of the Bath- Aix twinning association, says how delighted she was that the Walcot choir could accept the invitation to give a sold-out concert on Saturday at a church in the centre of Aix and also to sing in front of the Mairie ( City Hall ) on Sunday.

She adds, ” They love to sing world music and have a very strong ethos of celebrating the diversity of cultures through music. Their performances are full of colour and joy – and before you know it, you’ll be foot tapping along with them – if not dancing in the aisles! “

As Su Hart says :

We spent a wonderful weekend in Aix, joining together in joyful music-making with talented people from Aix and a fabulous choir from Perugia. Thank you to the Bath and Aix twinning associations for making this possible. We look forward to meeting our new friends over the coming years in Bath and beyond

This much-loved Bath choir is a non-audition, community choir which welcomes new members. Anyone interested, please contact walcotstatechoir.co.uk or su@baka.co.uk
