Big screen memories

First stop on a busy day was the Museum of Bath at Work, where they were putting the finishing touches to their big summer exhibition, which opens tomorrow.

The museum is celebrating 120 years of cinemas and films in Bath with “Lights! Camera!Action!” which opens on Saturday, May 9th, and runs through to Sunday, November 29th.

You’re invited to find out about Bath’s cinemas over time and enjoy some nostalgia. There will be an exhibition book to buy and cinema-themed goodies on sale in the museum shop.

There will also be a programme of film screenings and talks. The idea for this came from the museum’s Director, Stuart Burroughs, but the research and accompanying book is the handiwork of Ann Cullis, who, when she is not busy researching cinema history, happens to be a museum trustee and company secretary.

Meanwhile, here’s the chat I had with Stuart this Friday morning.
