By George!

[There are only two stands on this grassy area by the canal]

I recently cycled out to Bathampton Meadows. A pleasant route along the Kennet and Avon Canal footpath.

The intention was to park up at The George pub, which has an extensive car park but, as it turned out, no cycle loops!

I locked my bike up against the pub sign – as had someone else.

I think it’s a missed opportunity for that beautifully located inn, as many cycling groups pass that way and could be extra customers if they know their bikes are safe.

One of two pairs. Hope to see more!

Meanwhile, I use the gym at the Macdonald Bath Spa hotel and was critical of their cycle provision. It consisted of very short metal frames in which you could only lock the front wheel. To their credit, enough of us two-wheelers have had our say, and we now have proper bike stands to lock our frames to. So thank you!

Recently, on passing through Green Park Station, I came upon a young entrepreneur who obviously is well on his way to becoming a successful – and no doubt wealthy – businessman.

Young Timmy with his dad

Thirteen-year-old Timmy Brant is providing some fine specimens from his 3D printer. His stand offers everything from dragons to cats. I bought a black one. His father is there as a helper!
