Wouldn’t boxed trees like this look nice in Great Pulteney Street?

  2. I agree, they do look nice, but I fear it’s only a matter of time before someone takes a swipe at them. I’ve seen pictures of Great Pulteney Street when it was tree-lined and the difference is amazing. It looks so beautiful. I’d love it if the trees were restored but they should definitely be planted in the earth, not in boxes.

  3. Yes, bring back trees or shrubs to Great Pulteney Street, but I think they will need to be in tubs because of potential root disturbance to the cellars below.

  5. Pulteney St is meant to be grand and mathematically proportioned. It doesn’t need trees . Spend the money on resurfacing!

    1. What, so the traffic can go even faster ?
      Small trees or shrubs would not detrac from the grandeur of the street – far less indeed than the unbroken lines of parked cars.
      The poor road surface is a separate issue and is definitely hazardous and uncomfortable for cyclists, so this needs addressing as part of a comprehensive scheme to slow traffic and improve the public realm, particularly Laura Place, which is a tarmac desert and an opportunity to enhancement.

  6. Re looking after floral displays – maybe people who live in the area of the displays? Even if not everyone took part, there would be enough enthusiasts to keep them going for a season???

  7. Every where needs trees! It looks lovely. Perhaps an opportunity for sponsorship from local business???
