Celebrating our village

Barnsley Village Festival is returning on the 16th May 2026, hoping to build on the success of last year’s event, which welcomed more than 2000 visitors to the village, raising £20,000 for local causes and charities. The Festival Committee are delighted to announce Burford Garden Company as the main sponsor for 2026.

Founded by one of Britain’s greatest gardeners, the late Rosemary Verey, the Festival is a true celebration of the British summer garden and culture, bringing the village together to welcome visitors from far and wide.

Guests are invited to explore the array of beautiful village gardens, some showcasing Rosemary’s distinctive work, including her garden within the grounds of The Pig Hotel, normally reserved for hotel guests.

Elsewhere, the vast landscapes of Barnsley Park and the 45-acre Musgrave Arboretum will be open to explore.

Throughout the day, visitors can relax with tea and cakes in the Village Hall, enjoy cream teas and Pimms on The Pig Hotel lawn, or the BBQ at the Village Pub. A vibrant mix of craft stalls, live music, art and floral displays ensures there is something to captivate every visitor, while the much-loved Morris Dancers return to entertain as always

Charities and good causes supported in 2025 included Helen & Douglas House, Willen Hospice, HFT Learning Disability Allies, CHYP Cirencester, Aurora Breast Cancer Care, and the Big Space Cancer Appeal. A donation was also made to Ampney Crucis School.

Aurora Breast Cancer Care said that they are so grateful for the Barnsley Village Festival donation, which will support them in providing engaging and informative webinars, the chance to connect with local women with shared experiences on weekly walk and talk sessions and heartwarming coffee mornings. They will be able to continue to provide dedicated respite through well-being events and psychological clinical sessions to ensure accelerated emotional support.

This year’s festival will support Helen & Douglas House, South Cotswolds Foodbank, and The Grace Network, with other charities and good causes to be decided by the village.
