Thanks to Linda Knowles for sending me the following report regarding a meeting to discuss the club’s long-term future. Apparently, people were queuing around the block to get in!
“There was a good turnout at the meeting to consider the future of No 16 ( previously known as Larkhall Liberal Club)
Along with many pubs, the club has been struggling financially, and closure looked inevitable. However, there was sufficient interest from those present to implement a rescue plan to try to reverse the fortunes of the club.
A new committee will meet in early April, officers will be appointed, and the committee will look at ways to boost numbers using the bar and its amenities. There is no membership requirement; everyone is welcome.
In recent months, there have been monthly bingo sessions and karaoke, and these will continue. Next Bingo is April 1st. There are thriving skittles and snooker teams, and alongside these traditional pub games, crib and backgammon are played on Monday nights at 7.30. New players will be welcomed on a regular or drop-in basis.
The committee will be looking at ways to keep members and the community better informed about No 16, and would love people to call in to see what is on offer.”
