Hello Wellow

Don’t think l have ever said ‘Hello to Wellow’ on this blog before?

The reason I am doing it now – to those who live in this pretty village three miles south of Bath – is because I have heard from Jo Toye that the annual Wellow Way 10k and 5k runs, plus children’s Colour Run, will be back on Sunday, 22nd March, bigger and better than ever!

Jo tells me:

“Last year, over 300 people participated in the various activities the event has to offer, with Bath and England rugby star, Ollie Lawrence, firing the starting pistol on the runs.

The 10K and 5K circuits take in both road and off-road running, ideal for spring marathon training or as a standalone challenge to increase your fitness, get out outdoors and connect with fellow runners. The 10k route is also offered as a ramble to do at your own pace.

The colour run, organised by St Julian’s School PTA, is a fun circuit on the Wellow recreation ground, complete with multiple colour stations, hay bales and tyre obstacles en route.  New this year, parents can buy pouches of colour to douse their kids. Time to get your own back!

As always, delicious refreshments will be on offer provided by The Fox and Badger BBQ and St Julian’s School PTA cake stall, plus coffee van.

The Wellow Way 10K is a community-driven affair, raising funds for St Julian’s School PTA and the Wellow Community Chest, which supports St Julian’s Church, Wellow Parlour Shop, and Wellow Recreation Ground itself.

“Family friendly, “fun” and “a brilliant event that is accessible to all” are just some of the comments we consistently hear about this event, so why not come and be a part of it? ”

Last year’s  runs were a sell-out, so for more details, and to register for any or all events, visit:  https://www.eventcreate.com/E/WW10k

  1. Jann Haworth and Peter Blake lived in Wellow as I am sure you know and converted the train station into their home in the mid 70’s. I haven’t visited and wonder what it looks like now.
