Lost and found!

I am beginning to show my age. I walked into town yesterday and battled my way through rain and wind. However, I thought I would catch a number 7 bus home as a reward for my efforts.

Having got off the vehicle and while waiting in a prescription queue at the Larkhall Pharmacy, l suddenly realised I had left my Waitrose bag of shopping on the bus.

My distress wasn’t so much at the value of the goods as at my stupidity in not picking it up when I got off!!

It was with little expectation that l went to Bath’s Bus Station this morning with the hope that someone had handed it in.

It’s a shame there is no official First Bus counter any more, and the poor volunteers at the Climate Hub – who now occupy what l suppose must have been the bus office counter – are both patient and cheerful in pointing out that they are more to do with climate change and saving the natural world than looking for lost property.

It’s Nick l want, l was told, and a couple of First Bus officials went in search of the one and only Lost Property man. Amazingly, he was able to produce the goods. How grateful l am to the driver of that number 7 bus for his honesty in handing in my goods.

My thanks to him, Nick and the Climate Hub for helping me reunite with the missing bag.

There is still hope in the world, so don’t despair.
