On fire!

Avon Fire and Rescue Service has wasted no time in getting down to constructing its new temporary home at Roseberry Place on the Lower Bristol Road.

My thanks to Mark J Rose for these images.

The Service recently received planning permission to demolish the existing fire station on Cleveland Bridge and rebuild on the same site.

Construction is expected to begin in early 2026 and take approximately 18 months. During this period, firefighters will continue serving the community from the temporary station which is under construction.

Not everyone was happy with the planning consent to demolish the existing 1930s building, and one of the conditions of granting permission was that a full historical building record of the existing building has to be deposited with the Bath Record Office.

  1. Fascinating to learn the Avon Fire Service is getting on with building the temporary fire staion. One slight problem. They do not appear to have planning permission to do so. There were a lot of objections.
