Well, if this rather moisture-ridden weather system doesn’t help refill our reservoirs, nothing will!!
My posting brought a comment from historian and publisher Kirsten Elliott, who has paid a recent visit to our biggest local reservoir – Chew Valley Lake.
She has sent me a picture along with a further comment.

‘I thought you might like a picture of just how low the Chew Valley Lake is – never seen it like this.
This isn’t a great picture because I was actually using a telephoto to take pictures of the Great Egrets and herons, but you get the idea.”
Wow kirsten, it is low.
Having been out to Chew Valley a couple of times recently and never seen it so frighteningly low – it was turning back into fields and the old roads were visible – I’m afraid it’s going to take a lot more rain to restore it to its normal level.
Yes it will take more than a few days heavy rain to fill the acquifers and reservoirs after the very dry Summer we have just experienced.
The River Avon in Bath is finally flowing today after months of looking as static as a canal.
