Today’s image is a sad one and supplied by Steve Timmins who writes:
“Just saw this today on the stone road bridge crossing the K&A canal at the bottom end of Horseshoe Walk in Widcombe.
A builder’s lorry has crashed through the bridge wall, narrowly avoiding even worse consequences. Emergency vehicles are in attendance.
Possibly not too surprising given the extensive renovations and building work being undertaken in the local area with lots of heavy vehicle traffic!
Sadly, I’m sure it’ll take ages for the stonework on this old bridge to be repaired once the lorry is recovered…
Best wishes, and keep up the excellent reporting and commentaries”
Thanks for that Steve, and l hope no one was seriously hurt. Agree with you that much of old Bath is taking a pounding these days. I have already noted that repairs to old structures elsewhere are taking their time.
