Fancy owning a little city-centre pied-a-terre? Does buying a 900-year-plus lease on Ralph Allen’s Grade 1 listed 18th-century town house grab you?

This morning, in the company of Luke John Emmett, a Bath-based creative and lighting designer, we were shown around the empty interior of this bijou property by Alex Buchanan from B&NES Corporate Estate and Service Department.

The Council now regards this property – attributed to John Wood the Elder and dating from 1727 – as surplus to requirements and would rather sell it to someone who would introduce a little TLC to what lies behind the incredibly impressive facade.

The interior is nothing like the exterior and basically one room per floor – including a cellar-basement, kitchen area and bathroom.

It’s not been put on the open market yet, but it could be yours – I am hearing -for just under half a million.

It could make someone a lovely townhouse again.

One with a whole lot of history.
