I witness daily the continual degradation of Westgate Street, where large vehicles have to mount what is left of the kerb to get by other lorries going about their business of collecting refuse or delivering goods.

It is not the fault of the drivers that this street is not really fit for coping with their trucks, but there’s a conversation about sustainability to be had here.

Having said that, I know our general road infrastructure is under attack from a lack of funds.

Take to two wheels if you really want to ‘feel’ the state of some of our city’s road surfaces.

Try keeping your balance on stretches of Great Pulteney Street, and watch where you are going if on the High Street surrounding the Guildhall and facing the Abbey.

Potholes and sunken road surfaces aplenty.
Perhaps the West of England Combined Authority’s Mayor would like to take a walk around Bath? I cannot see where else the money might come from.
Why not simply make Westgate St all one level, like the area at the other end of the road around the Seven Dials/Sawclose? I think it would save a fair amount of stress and maintenance
